Medicine

Exchange students who come to the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences do mainly clinical practice in a number of medical areas. We also offer one theoretical course in English during autumn. A few more theoretical courses are available if you speak Swedish.

The exchange period according to our bilateral agreements is normally for three months, 13 weeks. This is made up of the Orientation Week and 12 weeks of clinical placements/courses. Students can, depending on modules available, design their own study plan but please bear in mind that it is sometimes not possible to fulfill all wishes regarding clinical placements.

Orientation week

Every semester at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences starts with a compulsory Orientation Week. You need to be present for the duration. Please see more information on this in the menu to the left.

Clinical modules

The medical programme includes a large amount of clinical practice with rotations at hospital clinics/wards. During the clinical modules, students will work with patients under the supervision of professional tutors. The supervision is in English. The placements are normally 2 or 4 weeks, but sometimes longer placements are possible to obtain. You will normally be placed in a group with both Swedish and exchange students.

Clinical modules take place in both Linköping, Norrköping or Motala as well as Finspång. All students do at least one placement outside of Linköping. A travel card will be provided for placements outside of Linköping.

Please note: You are strictly advised not to contact departments or clinics to try and arrange other placements than those below. All placements are arranged through the international coordinators.
