Checklist upon arrival

Being a new student at a new study destination there is a lot of information to take in. Use this checklist to get started at LiU.


Within the first days:

1. Visit the International Office

Visit the International Office (IO) in the New Student building on Campus Valla to register your arrival and to get important information. If you have been assigned accommodation through LiU, you should also pick up your keys at IO/Student buliding. 

2. Activate your LiU-ID and pick up your LiU-card

Get the activation key to your LiU-ID from Infocenter and follow the instructions. By activating the LiU-ID you will gain access to all student services such as the free wifi, student portal, classrooms etc. You will also create a LiU-card/access card at the Student Service Desk so bring a valid ID, preferably passport.

3. Attend your Orientation Programme

LiU will welcome you officially and you will meet your Faculty coordinator, you main academic contact during your stay here. Detailed information is sent out by your Faculty.


Within the first week:

4. Get your documents signed

Please note that only your Faculty coordinator can sign your Learning Agreement and other study related documents.

5. Check your LISAM acount

Log in to the e-learning platform LISAM with your LiU-ID credentials in order to check your email, find your course spaces and more. All study related information will be communicated to your LiU-email account. Sign in with your LiU-ID and chosen password.

6. Register for courses and exams

You must register for all planned courses in the Student Portal. You must also register for all exams in advance (read more in the folder examination guide available in the digital welcome package). If you have any problems registering, please contact the Student Service Desk. Also, check your courses timetable individually in TimeEdit.

7. Register your Swedish address in the Student Portal

This will ensure you have access to the library services.
