Specialist Nursing with emphasis on District Nursing, 75 credits
The programme prepares students for meetings/interaction with patients of all age groups in both planned and impromptu situations.
Students should be in a position to help people improve their health by adopting an approach which implies a much greater emphasis on health promotion measures. They should also be able to form an opinion on the timing of the transition from sickness treatment to palliative care based on the philosophy of every person having the right to a dignified death.
There is a particular focus on the use of conversation as a working method in health and patient care and on psychiatry from the perspective of primary nursing care. The programme leads to the right to prescribe certain medicines.
District nurses work within primary nursing care, children’s health, home based nursing care, nursing in schools, and also within private company nursing and local authority care for the elderly.
