During the third-cycle studies
Third-cycle studies at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences are pursued for four years full-time and lead to a doctoral degree.
A student can choose among some 20 third-cycle courses at Faculty of Health studies, as well as obtain a grant to take a third-cycle course at another institution of higher learning in Sweden or abroad. In addition to conducting research, third-cycle studies include taking courses, as well as participating in journal clubs and seminars.

The Research and Third-cycle Studies Committee (FUN) is calling for proposals by doctoral students who would like to take a third-cycle course at another institution of higher learning in Sweden or abroad in 2019. As of 2019, postdocs or technical personnel at our faculty who wish to participate in a similar course at another place in 2019 may also apply for the grant. LiU ID for doctoral students employed by the county
If you are a doctoral student employed by the county and affiliated with IKE, contact Erik Mårdh (erik.mardh@liu.se). If you are affiliated with IMH, contact Fredrik Almquist (fredrik.almquist@liu.se). They will help you obtain a LiU ID. In addition to an ID, you will obtain access to library databases and LiU’s wireless network (SEK 500/year for a limited account).
