Maintenance and financing

For the past few years, only doctoral studentships are permitted, but you can combine third-cycle studies with an appointment

elsewhere. You may do so only if you are able to devote enough time to your studies that you can obtain a doctoral degree within eight years while following the other regulations at Linköping University and the Faculty of Medicine for third-cycle studies.

The size of any scholarship that you receive from a sponsor outside Sweden must coincide with visiting scholarships for doctoral students from the Swedish Institute. If the foreign scholarship is less, the

department must make up the difference.

No more than 430 hours per year, i.e., 25% of full-time studies (such as compensation for emergency service or leave), can be non-financed.
