  • 2021-03-02: Information on EU regulation regarding chemicals regardes as selling explosives precursors, see more information in the section on Permits, reporting and limitations

  • 2021-02-01: If a employee or student are exposed to or infected by the new coronavirus causing covid-19 in conjunction with work or studies at LiU, this  must be reoprted immediately as a seroius incident to the Swedish work environment authority. More information in the section Emergencies, accidents and incidents.

  • 2021-02-01:The inventory period 2021 is open from 25 January to 30 April 2021. Inventory of chemical products needs to be carried out despite the pandemic and the inventory period is extended compared with previous years for it to be performed in line with the restrictions in force to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virusWe encourage you to follow the information on restrictions at the LiU Corona virus webpage for updates. More information in section KLARA, the chemical managment system.

  • 2020-12-22: The inventory period 2021 will not start Jan 1st 2021 as usual. This is due to the restrictions to prevent the spread of covid-19 (Corona virus) infection. All appointed chemical inventory staff have received this information in a message through the chemical handling system KLARA, and will receive further information on how the inventory period will be carried out and which guidelines will apply at a later time. In the meantime, please visit the webpage on LiU:s actions and restrictions (https://insidan.liu.se/HR-Personal/coronavirus?l=en&sc=true) for updates on general restrictions in force.

  • 2020-12-02: NA new template for risk assessment of for example risk of infection during the covid-19 pandemic is available in Swedish at HR's website on riskassessment. The section is also up-dated with a figure to sammaries the process of asessing risks

  • 2020-11-27: New version on guidelines regarding handling body fluids and human tissue during the covid-19 pandemic available in Swedish in the section on Biosafety. English version is on the way.  

  • 2020-11-26: Information on lack of protective equipment and certain materials linked to the covid-19 pandemic available in a new section with general information on Protective equipment.

  • 2020-11-17: Up-dated information on activiteis before look-down or scenario were few work on site, avaialble in Swedish at Rutiner och instruktioner vid labb på LiU.  

  • 2020-11-11: New routine for purchase of chemicals; registration of purchases in KLARA continuously during the yyear, read more in the section on Management of chemicals, Purchase and manufacture.

  • 2019-12-18: Education "Fire protection training for LiU employees" is now available for spring 2020, one education will be in English.  

  • 2019-12-18 ducation "Fire protection training for LiU employees working in laboratories"  is now available for spring 2020 in Swedish.  

  • 2019-12-06: new version of the manual for taking inventories of chemcial products in KLARAis now available, se page on KLARA, the chemicals management system.

  • 2019-10-30: New routines at campus US regarding handling of waste consisting of tissues from humans or animals, se page on Biological waste.

  • 2019-06-26-27: up-dated URL:s to several authorities and Region Östergötland (CVU direkt). Up-dated information regarding Chemicals management coordinator at LiU on the pages Management of chemicals.

  • 2019-04-04: Up-dated the contact information on dangerous goods

  • 2019-03-04: Up-dated information on dangerous goods, safety advisers and so-called "exempt medical sample" as well as information on contracted carrier for LiU. 

  • 2019-02-06: Since February 1, 2019, Region Östergötland has taken over the operation of cleaning services and internal logistics at the University hospital (US) (what was previously called vaktmästeri/janitorial). In connection with these changes, the contact paths change, any direct numbers to cleaning and internal logistics are removed.

  • 2019-01-23: Suggestions on were to buy labels with hazard pictogram according to CLP can now be found in the section Labelling of chemicals.

  • 2019-01-09: Up-dated links to information on new classification of substances as Narcotics or Goods hazardous to health

  • 2018-12-18: Minor changes in the routine for needlestick-, cut and splash injuries. Updated version of the routine is found in the Biosafety section under Emergencies and accidents (login with LiU-ID is required).

  • 2018-11-07: New provisions regarding infection risks (SmittriskerAFS 2018:4) will enter into force November 19, 2018, and replace the current provisions regarding Microbiological work environment risks (Mikrobiologiska arbetsmiljörisker - smitta, toxinpåverkan, överkänslighet, AFS 2005:1). Here you can read about the changes (in Swedish).

  • 2018-06-19: Changed occupational exposure limit values for several chemical substances/products. The exposure limit value for a substance is the highest level of the substance that is acceptable in the workplace. Changes are due to a new version of the provision regarding occupational exposure limit values that will enter into force 21st Aug 2018, see the section regarding Management of chemicals, Permits, reporting and limitations.

  • 2018-06-19: Updated procedure for the handling of liquid chemical waste – the so-called list of examples. To facilitate for operations in the laboratories and workshops, LiU and Region Östergötland have established a list of commonly used chemical products and solutions, together with a description of whether these solutions are to be regarded as hazardous waste or not. Reminder - any printed examples of the older version "Procedures for the handling of chemical waste " at the labs must be replaced with the new version! The valid version of this procedure is available in right column of the section regarding Hazardous waste and chemical waste.

  • 2018-06-19: Several changes regarding the chemicals management system KLARA: 

    New and better function for printing labels. Can be used for relabelling of old chemical products that lack the CLP labelling. How the new label feature works and were to purchase labels from LiU:s supplier (Staples) is summarised in the section Management of chemicals, KLARA, the chemicals management system.

    New function enables easier search for product into long chemical lists (for those with many chemical prdoducts) see the section Management of chemicals, KLARA, the chemicals management system.

    New password management for KLARA, see the section Management of chemicals, KLARA, the chemicals management system. 

  • 2018-06-08: Information regarding medical check-ups is available in English under the section on Safe laboratory environment

  • 2018-02-16: The excemption for certain uses of mercury, mercury compounds and preparation has been prologned and the  prevoiously required documentaion no longer applies. Also new substances are classified as narcotics and  goods hazardous to health (hälsofarliga varor) see the section Chemical handling, Permit & reporting 

  • 2018-02-15: Material from the seminar Working safely in the lab held Feb 7th 2018 at campus US is now available for download. You can also download the presentation regarding protective gloves in the lab, held by a product specialist from Kimberly-Clarke held Feb 7th 2018 at campus US and Feb 8th at campus Valla. These presentations will be availalable for download for a limited time. 
    More information on pretoective equipment and preotective glovs are found in the section Chemical handling, Personal protective equipment, for example how to find out if and how long a protective glove prevents a certain chemical from reaching the skin - use information from the manufacturers!

  • During June 2016 some forms in the Laboaratory safety manual have been replaced with new versions, due to the changed logotype for Linkoping Univeristy.  

  • 2016-05-24: Information about Occupational exposure limit values and a new provision in see Permits and reporting.
  • 2016-05-20: Changes in the layout of the database 'lagbevakningstjänst' and the name changed from Askengren & Co, to RSM&CO. information in Swedish at Lagbevakning
  • 2016-05-17: the routine for removal of infectious waste and GMM waste is now translated into English - see Laboratory waste.
  • 2016-03-29: the SAMS webbsida is now available. Here you will find information regarding the working groups within the agreement and the names of the contacts.
  • 2016-03-11: in the section on Emergencies, accidents and First Aid information on new telephone numbers to be used in case of cardiac arrest and need for Automated External Defibrillators (AED).
  • 2016-03-04: Updated routine for removal of infectious and GMM waste at the University Hospital Campus, see Laboratory waste.

  • 2015-05-25: New legislation regarding labelling of chemicals, pipelines and storage of chemicals (according to CLP-classification system), see "märkning och skyltning" (in Swedish).
  • 2015-02-10: An inventory of biological agents risk group 2 and higher, and GMM, is now being carried out within LiU and Region Östergötland.
  • 2015-01-21: County council of Östergötland (LiÖ) changed to Region Östergötland, contacts are also up-dated accordingly.
