Functional analysis

Course contents: Convergence, continuity and compactness in topological and metric spaces, normed spaces, Hilbert spaces, Banach spaces, Dual spaces, weak convergence, weak topologies, weak* topologies, bounded linear operators, the Hahn-Banach theorem, the Banach-Steinhaus theorem, the open mapping theorem, the closed graph theorem, compact operators, Fredholm operators, some spectral theory.

Organisation: Lectures and problem solving seminars.

Examination: Solving of exercises, which are then demonstrated during the seminars.

Prerequisites: TATA34 Real Analysis, Honours Course, TATM85 Functional Analysis, and MAI0067 Integration Theory, or similar.
