Docent Lecture - Christer Ahlström

Lecture - Linköpings universitet
When investigating contributing factors to vehicle crashes, it turns out that up to 94% can be attributed to human behaviour. This is often described as ‘human error’, a phenomenon that is put forward as something unavoidable. This viewpoint is obviously counterproductive. Modern approaches to human behaviour research therefore suggest that human error is a product of its setting, and that a suitable vehicle and working environment will enable drivers to act with a minimised probability of error, targeting crash involvement way below 94%. One of many prerequisites when constructing such a human-centred traffic system is better tools to understand, measure and monitor human behaviour.
