First ever study abroad week at LiU
Linköping University arranged a Study-Abroad Week between the 18th and 22nd October 2010. The purpose of the week was to promote and spread information about studying abroad as part of the student exchange agreements that LiU has with over 450 partner universities. These are mostly in Europe but some are also in the U.S., Australia and Asia.
Some issues highlighted and questions answered in the lunch seminars were: What agreements are there in place for my particular study programme? Are there any scholarships to apply for? Where can I find application forms? Study advisers, faculty leaders and faculty programme directors were on hand to provide further information and in many of the sessions students who have studied abroad were there to talk about their experiences.
At all three campuses, Campus Valla and Campus U.S. in Linköping and Norrköping Campus there were photo exhibitions on displaying pictures taken by students who have studied abroad and participated in the annual photo contest for returning students.
“I hope that Swedish students will have opened their eyes to studying abroad and that they will see what an opportunity they have to take a step out into the world and gain new exciting experiences through study or internships abroad”, says Jenny Enblom at the International Office, which together with the faculties organised the week’s activities.
