LiU researchers win prestigious ERC grants
Three researchers at Linköping University have been awarded Starting Grants from the European Research Council. The coveted grants, which ensure financing for five years, were won in the face of fierce competition. Last year researchers in Sweden were only awarded five out of a total of 244.
David Engblom, Peter Nilsson and Johanna Rosen are all part of LiU’s Future Research Leaders initiative, which aims to recruit and support the very best young researchers. They have been very successful and are now building up their own research groups in highly attractive areas.
An ERC Starting Grant is usually about 1, 5 million Euro.
"In simplified terms, it can perhaps be described as 'Junior European Championships in research'. Congratulations to Johanna, David and Peter in achieving this success, we are very proud”, writes LiU's headmaster Mille Millnert in an editorial text on LiU’s homepage.
