Environmental technology in megacities
The environmental situation is critical in many of the world's megacities. A research project at Linköping University will examine how new environmental technologies can be spread to these cities, especially Cairo and Mexico City.
The project, which is led by scientists Leo Baas and Olof Hjelm at the Division of Environmental Technology and Management, is financed by VINNOVA - The Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems - with €218,000 over three years.
Research will focus on business models and operators in emerging markets for environmental technology. The project is carried out in close cooperation with local universities and the UN programme "Cleaner Production". Several Swedish environmental technology companies will also participate.
