Apology to plagiarized LiU physicists
The editor of Journal of Materials Science, who published an article plagiarized from an original written by five Swedish authors – among them two physicists at LiU – has now apologized and removed the false article from the journal’s website.
According to the editor, Barry Carter, there is no doubt about which is the original article. An investigation will find out who of the alleged authors are guilty of the plagiarism.
In May 2007, an article with K. Muthukkumaran as first author was published in Journal of Materials Science. In August, Sergei Simak, a physics researcher at Linköping University, discovered that it was a plagiarism word by word of an article that he together with Professor Igor Abrikosov and three other Swedish scientists had published in the journal PNAS (Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences)
In spite of reminders the false article remained online for two months.
