This year the LiU Junior Faculty Career Day focuses on topics for building a career as an independent researcher. The situation of junior researchers at Linköping University and in Sweden will be addressed as well as important topics as the independence research line, collaboration between researchers and communication and commercialization of research results. During the Career Day, the prize winner of the Junior Faculty prize will be presented.

The aim of this seminar is to provide our members with information on the requirements for getting a docentship, to clarify the procedure and reveal any obstacles on the way. For this seminar the “docenturnämnder” from each faculty at Linköping University are invited to provide the necessary information. National Meeting of Junior Faculty/Future Faculty Organization
This year Linköping University is the host of the national meeting of Junior/Future Faculty (JF/FF) organizations of Swedish Universities. The national meeting takes place every year where the representatives of the JF/FF organizations meet to discuss problems and issues that junior researchers are facing, to find out solutions and to develop a common strategy or necessary actions of JF/FF.
The meeting will be on Thursday and Friday. On Thursday, the representatives of JF/FF will present the institutions and challenges/issues, but also discuss which problems we have in common and how to solve them. Representatives of Vetenskapsrådet (Ämnesrådet av medecin och hälsa) are going to visit the universities this fall, and they ask for a meeting with representatives of junior researcher. We will discuss the position of JF/FF at the meeting. On Friday, we have invited members from the Young Academy of Sweden (Sveriges Unga Akademi) to join the national meeting. We will discuss how our organizations can collaborate with each other.

Junior Faculty of Linköping University invites you to the club meeting devoted to the commercialization of your research. The idea is to show to young researchers (postdocs, FoAss etc) the possibility and the way to commercialize their research, which support we can receive, which opportunities/programs exist, and how can we benefit from them. Two speakers will present two different programs: Johan Ahlström will tell about Mentor For Research program from IVA: participate in the program, get a mentor and expand your business oriented vision. Karin Löfstrand from FeelGood is invited and she will give a presentation on "Stress and conflict situations at the work place". The intention of the seminar is to provide an open forum to discuss these topics. Questions that will be addressed are: What is stress? What are the risk factors for stress at work? What are typical reactions? and How can someone handle stress?
Since their will be time for discussion and to get the best outcome for yourself, it is recommended to reflect what at the working place does affect you, your health and your effectivity positively and negatively.

Career day
Presentations and exhibitions for Junior Researchers on career opportunities within and outside the academic world. The first annual Junior Faculty Prize for sustainable research environments were awarded professor Björn-Ola Linnér.

The importance of pedagogical merits for positions in academia
The prerequisites for tenure positions at LiU were discussed with Randi Hellgren (PA) and Ellinor Edwardsson-Stiwne (CUL).
February 26 and March 12
Grant Workshop
Junior researchers were allowed to bring their preliminary research proposals to senior evaluators for help to make better grant applications. The first day, February 26, there were presentations from reviewers in different scientific boards as well as information from Grants Office. Then a initial group discussion took place about the grant applications. The second day, March 12, further discussions were made within the groups and a final presentation by Per Dannetun, Grants Office.
January 29
Media training workshop
Björn Carlgren, media trainer and journalist, trained several junior researchers to be better in approaching media. Two important lessons were to be prepared beforehand when meeting journalists and to be able to summarise the findings in just 1 minute and 30 seconds.

2020 Prize winner: LINKÖPING GRANTS OFFICE
We are very proud to announce that the board decides to attribute the 2020 prize to the GRANTS OFFICE for their amazing work and support for the early career Researcher. The GRANTS OFFICE, represented by Agneta Jansson, Head of Grants Office, is a very important organization for the establishement of young researchers as independant researchers, aiming to support them in their funding search to develop their own project.
The prize was given at the digital Career Day, organized with Forum Scientium (December 7th).
