Well before the start of the new term you will be able to access the timetable via TimeEdit, by entering your course code (full time course: 711A03 - see other course codes for separate single-subject courses below).

The reading list and the course guide are available (without a LiU ID) under the tab “Övriga dokument” via the links in the course codes:

  • Writers and Contexts (7.5 credits; single-subject course: 711A13)
  • History of English (7.5 credits; single-subject course: 711A14)
  • Linguistic and Literary Theory and Method (7.5 credits; single-subject course: 711A15)
  • Applied Linguistic and Literary Theory and Method (7.5 credits; single-subject course: 711A16)
  • Specialised Reading Course (7.5 credits; topic chosen in consultation with teacher)

Otherwise, we post information about the course in the university’s web-based learning platform, Lisam, e.g. the reading list, the course guide and the timetable. After you have been accepted (antagen) on the course, you should receive direct access before the start of the new term in January. However, to gain access you must have a LiU ID. If you don’t already have this, you need to create a temporary ID (see step 1 here: in English or in Swedish).

 

General Introduction

The English Magister is a 60-credit course consisting of six 7.5-credit course modules and a 15-credit thesis. Three course modules are compulsory: Linguistic and Literary Theory and Method (7.5 credits), Applied Theory and Method (7.5 credits) and Advanced Academic Writing (7.5 credits). The remaining modules are chosen from either the advanced-level courses offered by the subject English or from our reading courses.

  • Translation and Translation Theory (7.5 credits; single-subject course: 711A11)
  • Academic Writing (7.5 credits; single-subject course: 711A12)
  • Applied Linguistic and Literary Theory and Method (7.5 credits; single-subject course: 711A16)
  • Specialised Reading Course (7.5 credits; topic chosen in consultation with teacher)
