Background

I started my condensed matter physics course from Lanzhou (B.S.) and Nanjing (M.S.) Universities in China. Later I moved to Germany and earned a Ph.D. in physics from Leibniz IFW-Dresden/TU-Dresden in Oct. 2003. My work was focused on  spectroscopic studies of electronic properties of carbon nanotubes/fullerene with wide ranges of spectroscopic techniques, e.g., photoemission in lab and synchrotron sources, electron energy-loss spectroscopy, optics, Raman, and so on. In 2004, I entered the field of the organic interface with lab and synchrotron based photoemission and adsorption.

 After that, I spent several years in Austria and US to continue and enlarge my research interest with other spectroscopic techniques, such as scanning probe microscopy/spectroscopy. Most topics were related to study the  electronic and optical properties of nanocarbon (nanotubes/nanodiamond) and organic molecules. In 2011, I joined the surface physics and chemistry group.
