Research supervision

Course in Higher Education

The course is intended for persons who have a doctoral degree and participate as main supervisors or co-supervisors in PhD

A cross faculty part (corresponding to 1,67 weeks) is about learning processes and development of personal competence in relation to experiences and higher educational pedagogy research in the field of research supervision

The faculty-specific parts (corresponding to 1 week) are about the rules, practice, study and action plans, the value of higher education based on gender equality, equal treatment and sustainable development, cultures and work methods of third cycle education, as well as the areas of responsibility of the faculty offices' and faculty and PhD education boards, the faculties' view of the carrying out of PhD education, and the requirements for acquisition of qualifications. At the Faculty of Medicine, issues relating to supervision in problem-based learning (PBL), student-centered learning and integration between subjects, programs, research and professions are discussed.

The course consists of two parts: One cross-university part, including the entire university and one faculty-specific part. For the faculty-specific part, please see information at the bottom of this side and contact that person who is responsible for the course given at your faculty.

  • The course includes 108 hours of full-time study
  • Announced course days involve compulsory participation. Participation in the course also involves own work between the course days in the form of reading literature and completing course assignments
  • During the spring semester 2021, the course is only given online

  • Consider carefully whether they will have sufficient opportunities for both participation and completion of the course in regards to other commitments and duties

  • The course can be fully booked before application deadline
  • If too few participants, the course can be canceled
  • If cancellation is made after application deadline (which normally is one month before the course starts) without extraordinary reasons, Didacticum will charge the applicants department/unit with 2000 SEK
