Colosseum to be renovated
Starting 1 July, Colosseum in the C Building will get a full update, at the request of students. Walls, floors, ceilings and lighting will all get a makeover.
It’s time to take Colosseum from the 90s to 2015. From 1 June to 17 July, work will be underway to install a new, grey, durable and eco-friendly floor, new lighting and furniture, the walls will be painted and the reed work of art will be covered in birch plywood. The old super computer will be moved to a new location.
The area will still be open-plan. It will be easy to move furniture around to arrange fairs, ticket sales and other events, just like today.
”We’re starting with Colosseum, and later we’ll also have a look at the other spaces in the C Building. The students have asked for the space to be upgraded. So we hope they will excuse any inconveniences during the renovation,” says Anna Linnarson, interior designer at LiU’s Department of Facilities Management.
During the renovation period, the entire Colosseum will be closed. Exams and lectures will be moved to other venues.
”The work will finish just in time for the Japanese youth festival, NärCon, which starts on 23 July,” says Ms Linnarson.
