Display office in D Building

Work starts Monday 26 January on a new display office in the D Building. The office will show how the open-plan office spaces will look after the renovation.

Sketch of offices in the D BuildingIf the University Board decides to build the Valla Student Building, where Origo is currently located, and to renovate the D Building, the lecture theatres in the D Building along the road ’Mäster Mattias väg’ will be converted to open-plan office spaces. Most of the staff from University Services will have their workplaces here.

In late March the display will be ready, with about ten workplaces, three resource rooms and one meeting room. It will look just like the future workplaces, except that the ventilation will not be operational.

As a result of the work, lecture theatre D38 will be removed from the booking system, and adjacent rooms will be closed while work proceeds. And it will be difficult to pass through the corridor to Tema, so we recommend taking another route. During weeks 5, 6, 7 and 9, there will be some noise as a result of the demolition and other work. Sketch of offices in the D BuildingBut as adjacent rooms will be closed, this should not disturb anyone. Akademiska Hus will install signs informing of the work.

All the surfaces in the display spaces will be authentic, including panelling of ash wood, glazing, carpets and a wall painted in an accent colour. The spaces will be furnished with various selections of furniture, so you can see a range of options.

At a later date we will provide more information on tours of the spaces, and how offices of the University Services can book the spaces for a trial.
