New meeting place for LiU employees
Universitetsklubben, a new meeting place for the employees of the university, was officially opened on Campus Valla on 29 November. Former restaurant Vallfarten was rebuilt and modernised to accommodate lunches, meetings, relaxation, seminars and after-work gatherings.
“The idea is to make Universitetsklubben a place where university employees and their guests can have lunch, hold meetings, relax with a newspaper and a cup of coffee, meet colleagues informally and hold conferences or public thesis defences,” says Mats Arwidson, Deputy University Director.
Universitetsklubben will be open on weekdays from 8 am to 5 pm. Lunch will be available in two places: one smaller and one larger dining room. In the larger room, a buffet lunch is served at the price of SEK 105. A la carte lunches that have been booked in advance will be served in the smaller dining room. Starters, main courses and desserts will be available.
The facilities also include a conference room and a lounge with an open fireplace, snack bar and a piano.
Employees will have access to the premises on weekday evenings, provided they have not already been booked. It will be possible to arrange dinners, hold thesis defence parties and private functions, conferences, lectures and seminars, etc. Or you can just pop in for a beer after work.
“There may not always be personnel working there in the evenings, but you can always access the facility with your LiU card, simply select the items that are available and pay by leaving the money in the ‘jar’. We expect that the system will work; it does at other universities,” says Mats Arwidson.
